Falling in love with comics again.

I took a break from reading comics. A very long break. Stepping away from the toxic environment of the old comics store I worked at off and on for almost two decades soured me on everything about comic books. That'll be the topic of a different post.

I shelved all my comics into boxes and hid them in a dark corner of my storage shed. I sold or gave away most of my graphic novel collection. I was out.

The last time I dropped off from comics, Jim Lee's art on the cover of Heroes Reborn Fantastic Four #1 dragged me back into a store.

This time, I was snared by a new format that DC introduced into mainstream book stores.

DC Compact Comics.

I picked up Grant Morrison and Yannick Paquette's Wonder Woman: Earth-One volume, as well as Far Sector by N.K. Jemisin and Jamal Campbell.

It wasn't the quality of these books that inadvertently dragged me back headlong into a frenzied consumption of new books (both books were OK, with a slight nod to Far Sector for being a whole lot of different from other Green Lantern books I've read).
